Minko Balkanski Competition

The competition is inspired by the French Concours Général, which has been held in France from 1747 to the present day. This is an academic competition where students from the final two years of high school, the strongest in a given subject in their entire school, compete with others from across the country.
The “Minko Balkanski” Competition is an instrument for assessing candidates’ abilities, giving them the opportunity to pursue higher education at the most demanding and prestigious higher education institutions in France.
The competition was first held in 1993, and since then it has been organized every year without interruption.
The top winners of the competition receive the opportunity to enter classes préparatoires at the elite French lycée Louis-le-Grand in Paris. There they prepare for two years for the subsequent competition to enter a grande école – the most prestigious type of higher education institution in France.
